In order to help you understand the best option for you, we want to explain some of the most important terms and benefits. If you have any trouble understanding these, please feel free to get in touch with us. We'll gladly answer any questions you have.

Cancel for Any Reason (CFAR): This optional benefit allows a person to cancel their trip for any reason, even if it's not listed in the policy as being covered. The reimbursement is 75% (some policies are 50%) of your prepaid and non-refundable costs. If you were to cancel for a covered reason listed in the policy (illness, injury, etc. - see your policy details under the Cancellation benefit) the reimbursement is 100%. If, though, you were to cancel for something not listed as covered (change of mind, your friend surprised you with Super Bowl tickets and so on), you would use the CFAR benefit for 75% (some policies are 50%) of your prepaid and non-refundable costs.
Important: (A) Eligibility for CFAR is (1) the plan be purchased within 14, 20 or 21 days (depending on the plan - see plan details under CFAR benefit) of the absolute first trip payment (deposit, airfare, hotel reservation or whatever the fist payment is), (2) you must insure the entire prepaid trip cost and (3) you must be medically fit for travel at the time of purchasing the policy.
(B) The CFAR benefit expires within 48 hours of the trips departure date. If a person needs to cancel their trip for a reason not listed in the policy as being covered, in order to use the CFAR benefit, you must officially and in writing (email) cancel your trip more than 48 hours from the trips departure date. See your plan details for exact information.

Interruption for Any Reason (IFAR): This optional benefit is similar to CFAR but applies after your trip has already started. It allows you to interrupt your trip for any reason and will reimburse you 75% (some policies are 50%) for unused portions of the trip and additional transportation costs.
Important: Eligibility for IFAR is the same as with CFAR. With most plans, the IFAR benefit does not become active until 72 hours after the date of departure. See your plan details for exact information.

Preexisting Condition Waiver: Most plans will waive the preexisting condition exclusion when following the same rules for purchasing the CFAR and IFAR benefit. Normally, coverage is excluded for preexisting conditions (see policy details for definition of preexisting conditions). With most plans, if the policy is purchased following the same rules that apply to purchasing CFAR and IFAR, this exclusion for preexisting conditions will be waived and you plan will cover preexisting conditions. See your plan details for exact information.

Last Piece of Advice: In order for you to not miss the overlooked, yet important, benefits which play a role in the quality of the plan, make sure to review the following within the plan benefits:
- Emergency Medical Benefit Limit: Is the limit high enough for your comfort? Do you not need that amount of coverage? Is it just right?
- Time-frame Before Travel Delay, Missed Connection, Baggage Delay Benefits Go Into Effect: Each of these benefits do not go into effect until after a specified time has lapsed. For example, many plans will not cover additional expenses due to missing a connecting flight (Missed Connection benefit) unless the original flight was delayed 3 hours or more> some plans have a 6 hour requirement, etc. Make sure to see your plan details for exact information.
- Covered Reasons for Cancellation and Interruption Benefits: Each plan lists the reasons that will be covered in the event a trip is cancelled or interrupted. These are the only reasons a person can cancel or interrupt their trip and receive reimbursement. If you are concerned of possibly needing to cancel or interrupt your trip for a reason not listed, if you are able to fulfill the requirements, you should consider purchasing the CFAR and/or IFAR benefit. If, though, you feel the reasons listed cover all of your concerns for possibly needing to cancel or interrupt your trip, it may not be necessary to purchase the CFAR or IFAR benefit.
