Answers from TravallamaINS, a licensed independent travel insurance agency, to common questions about this. Benefits, limits and conditions differ by plan and by state, and the plan document governs.
How do I file a claim?
Claims are filed with the insurance company's claims administrator, not with us, but we will guide you. Report the claim promptly.
Travel Insured Deluxe and Platinum: travelinsured.com or 1-855-752-8303.
Travel Insured claims for New York State residents (Worldwide Trip Protector NY): travelinsured.com or 1-877-771-1189.
Trawick Pathway: file online at mysurego.com/claims/submit-claim or email claims@mysurego.com. Claim status: (833) 853-1822.
WorldTrips Atlas Journey: (866) 400-6090, or collect from outside the U.S. at (603) 328-6387.
A completed claim form plus proof of your trip, your payments and the event.
Trip invoice or itinerary and proof of payment.
The supplier's cancellation and refund statement showing what was not refunded.
For medical reasons: the physician's statement and medical bills.
For delays and baggage: the carrier's written report and your receipts. For theft: a police report.
For a death: a copy of the death certificate.
How long does a claim take?
It depends on the insurance company and on how complete your documents are. The plan documents give these payment times, counted from when the insurer has complete, acceptable proof of loss: within 20 days on Trawick's Florida plans and within 30 days on WorldTrips.
Sending complete documents the first time is the best way to avoid delays.
Will my claim be approved?
Only the insurance company can decide a claim, based on your plan document and the documents you submit. We cannot promise an outcome.
We can explain what your plan says and help you prepare the claim. Email info@travallamains.com with your plan number and a short description of what happened (no medical records or card numbers), and a licensed agent will reply.
Is there a deadline to file a claim?
Yes. If you need to cancel, tell the program, airline and other suppliers right away, within 72 hours of the event at the latest. Then report the claim as soon as you can, and send proof of loss within 90 days of the loss.
Travel Insured: notice within 20 days of the loss.
Trawick Pathway: written notice within 7 days after the loss begins (20 days in the California and Illinois versions). The New York version reduces benefits if the claim is reported after 72 hours.
WorldTrips Atlas Journey: notice within 30 days.
Travel Insured and WorldTrips do not pay extra charges caused by cancelling with a supplier later than 72 hours.
My claim was denied. What can I do?
Read the insurance company's letter for the reason and the plan provision it cites. You can ask the insurance company in writing to reconsider and send any additional documents; some plans, such as Travel Insured's New York plan, describe a formal grievance procedure.
Email info@travallamains.com with your plan number and a short description, and a licensed agent will review it with you. You can also contact your state's insurance department.
Do I have to ask the airline or program for a refund first?
Yes. Cancel with each supplier right away, within 72 hours of the event at the latest, and ask for whatever refund they owe you.
Insurance reimburses what is left after supplier refunds and credits, and the claim requires the supplier's statement of what was and was not refunded.
Can you file the claim for me or help with it?
We help you through it: which form to use, what documents to gather, and following up with the insurance company. The claim itself is submitted by you, the insured person, and the insurance company makes the decision.
